NHH Foundation Gala Raises Record Amount

For Immediate Release, December 2nd, 2011

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - The co-chairs of the 11th annual Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation gala are pleased to announce that this year's event which was held November 12th at the LIUNA Local 183 Training Centre in Cobourg, raised a record amount for the purchase of essential medical equipment for the Surgical Services program at the hospital.

Kim Gordon and Wendy Ito say due to the generosity of the gala guests, sponsors and donors, $170,000 was raised at the gala entitled, "Come Together".

"We have an outstanding community hospital," says co-chair Wendy Ito, "and the gala's financial success means the advanced medical equipment will be available for the patients of Northumberland County. This year the gala funds will be directed to purchasing two gastroscopes, a laparoscopic tower, an arthroscope, and two Infus Syringe Pump for the Surgical Services Program."

"The Northumberland Hills Hospital impacts the lives of tens of thousands of people each year," says Kim Gordon, "and the success of the gala is a reflection of the community's commitment to supporting the finest in local healthcare."

Special thanks to the dozens of dedicated volunteers, who helped to make this year's event such a success, including the gala cabinet, set up volunteers and the volunteers who assisted during the gala itself. Also thank you to the two dozen local doctors who supported the "Doctors Come Together" Raffle. With their leadership the raffle raised $25,065 for the hospital.

Tickets on Sale September 19th for Hospital
Foundation's 11th Annual Gala

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - The Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce that tickets go on sale Monday, September 19th at 8:30 a.m. sharp for its 11th annual gala event, "Come Together".

This evening to remember will take place at the LIUNA Local 183 Training Centre in Cobourg on Saturday, November 12, 2011. Plans include fabulous food and wine, live music, live and silent auctions and a few added surprises that we believe will add to our special evening.

One of the most important fundraising aspects of the gala is securing sponsorships. We are pleased to announce that HTM Insurance Company, BMO Financial Group, Northumberland Today and Cameco Corporation have all returned as Platinum sponsors.

Local Doctors Come Together for the Hospital

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - Recognizing the importance of a well equipped hospital, Northumberland doctors have joined forces once again to offer an exciting raffle package in support of the 11th Annual Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation Gala.

Spearheaded this year by Dr. Mark & Linda Essak, twenty doctors contributed funds to feature a raffle with outstanding prizes. Top prize in the "Doctors Come Together Raffle" raffle is a Cunard dream cruise to England for two aboard the Queen Mary 2 or a $10,000 travel voucher. Additional prizes include a 4-night escape to Las Vegas for two or a $2,000 travel voucher and an iPad2. Only 500 tickets are being made available. You do not need to attend the gala to purchase a ticket.

"We have an outstanding community hospital," says co-chair Wendy Ito, "and our success means they will be able to purchase the high priority medical equipment the gala cabinet had set its sights on, including two laparoscopes and two endoscopes for the Surgical Services Program, a stretcher for the Emergency Department and two I-V Pumps."

"The Northumberland Hills Hospital impacts the lives of tens of thousands of people each year," says Kim Gordon, "and the success of the gala is a reflection of the community's commitment to supporting the finest in local healthcare."

Top prize in the "Looks Like a Million" raffle is a Mediterranean Cruise for 2, valued at $9,000. Additional prizes include a 3-Day Romantic Escape to Chicago for 2 and an iPad. Only 500 tickets are being made available. You do not need to attend the gala to purchase a ticket.

Having volunteered with the gala for several years, Kim and Wendy bring a wealth of experience and exciting ideas to their new roles. This year's gala is entitled "All that Glitters …Looks Like a Million" and will taken place on Saturday, November 13th at the LIUNA Local 183 Training Centre in Cobourg. Funds raised this year will once again purchase new medical equipment for the Northumberland Hills Hospital.

This is a special evening for several other reasons. 2010 marks the 10th Anniversary of this important fundraising event. Since its inception the gala has raised $850,000 for the hospital. This year, Wendy and Kim and the Gala Cabinet have set their sights on raising $150,000 which would bring their 10 year total to $1 million.

Gala guests have come to expect the best in food, décor, live music, live and silent auctions and organizers of this year's event promise they won't disappoint. One Mile at a Time with Aeroplan's Charitable Pooling Program.

NORTHUMBERLAND - The Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation, in partnership with Aeroplan, is pleased to announce an exciting new way to support the purchase of new medical equipment for the hospital. As part of Aeroplan's Charitable Pooling Program, Aeroplan members can now donate a portion of their Aeroplan miles to a special designated account for the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.

Between June 24th and July 24th, Aeroplan members can donate any number of miles they would like to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation. Interested donors simply need to contact the Foundation Office and fill out a special transfer form. Forms are also available for printing here. Donors can pre-register, but the miles will only be deducted during the authorized donation period.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with Aeroplan on this new endeavor," says Rhonda Cunningham, Foundation Executive Director, "Donating Aeroplan miles is another fabulous way to support the patients and health care professionals at the hospital." Donated miles will be used to purchase items to be raffled or auctioned off, and amounts of Aeroplan Miles themselves may be raffled off. The funds raised will be used to purchase high priority medical equipment to enhance patient care at the Northumberland Hills Hospital.

The Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation thanks Aeroplan for its generosity in the creation of this program. Please note Aeroplan does not assign monetary value to Aeroplan miles; therefore the Foundation cannot issue a donation receipt for any gift of Aeroplan miles.

9th Annual Hospital Foundation Gala Embraces British Elegance and Local Produce

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - Elegance, fine dining, and great entertainment will be served up at the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation's 9th annual fundraising gala, entitled "An Evening at the Savoy". Set for Saturday, November 7th, the gala will raise funds to purchase new medical equipment for the Northumberland Hills Hospital.

This special evening to remember will take place at the Life Long Learning Centre in Cobourg, but when guests arrive they will be transported back in time to the late 40's to the landmark Savoy Hotel in London, England. Known as one of the world's premier hotels, the Savoy is home to outstanding food, entertainment and service. Gala guests have come to expect the best in food, live music, live and silent auctions and organizers of this year's event promise they won't disappoint.

But that's not all. Organizers are thrilled to announce the evening's meal will be created by celebrated Canadian Chef Jamie Kennedy, who will welcome guests with a distinctive seasonally inspired menu. Chef Kennedy is known for his legendary commitment to environmental issues and his support for organic agriculture, local producers and traditional methods.

The Gala is not just about great food, music and the fun of one evening. It is truly about a community coming together for the purpose of helping to purchase top priority medical equipment for its community hospital. In 2008, the Gala raised $124,000 for the purchase of the high priority equipment for the Surgical Services Area of the Northumberland Hills Hospital.
